From a dream to a world
I've always wanted to write a book, but it wasn't until a vivid dream inspired The Seasons of Gemma that I finally sat down and started writing. I wrote the dream down so I wouldn't forget it, and from that single idea, an entire world began to grow.
I've always had a huge imagination. I love asking myself, "If I could build my own world, what would it look like? What creatures would live there? What kind of magic would exist?" Fantasy has always been my favorite escape, and there's something special about getting lost in another world for a while. My hope is that my stories give readers that same feeling of wonder and adventure while sharing a little piece of my imagination.
Step into another realm
I hope my books and website feel like stepping into a new world. I want readers to explore, discover creatures they've never seen before, wonder what magical abilities they have, and lose themselves in the stories behind each realm. Most of all, I hope they leave thinking, "Where can I join this adventure?"
The journey of creation
My stories often begin with dreams that are so vivid I can't stop thinking about them. The Seasons of Gemma started with a single image—a beautiful forest and a red-haired girl with freckles and one striking gold eye. Then she turned. The other half of her hair was platinum, her other eye was green, and suddenly the forest split into two different worlds. I woke up with more questions than answers. Who was she? Why did she look like that? Why couldn't I stop thinking about her? I wrote everything down before I could forget it, and from those questions, an entire world began to grow.
When I build a story, I picture the world first. I want to see the scenery before I meet the people who live there. Then the characters begin to appear, followed by the creatures, the magic, and the adventures waiting to unfold. One of my favorite parts of writing is asking, "What if?" and watching an idea grow into a world I wish I could visit myself.
As a fantasy reader, I love everything that comes with an immersive story.
